LeakyCon 2014 is taking place from July 30—August 3, 2014 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida!
The idea for LeakyCon was born on the eve of what some said was the end of the Harry Potter fandom. It was 2007, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows had just been published, and a small group of staff members from popular Harry Potter fan siteThe Leaky Cauldron sat in a crowded hotel room during Prophecy, a fan convention in Toronto, Canada.
Reliving their experiences from the weekend, the Leaky staffers, including LeakyCon’s future Executive Directors Melissa Anelli and Stephanie Dornhelm, decided that by combining their favorite aspects of existing conventions with the special feeling of community found within Leaky, they could plan a conference forHarry Potter fans that was unlike anything anyone had seen before. And so, LeakyCon was born.
The first LeakyCon took place two years later in Boston as a Harry Potter convention, and now, five conventions and two continents later, Leaky has grown with us as we’ve come to realize just how much we all truly have in common. In 2014 we will return to Orlando, a very special place for us, where we realized the immense potential for powerful experiences that occurs when you mix fandom, community, and belonging.
In past years, LeakyCon has hosted incredible talent, including Broadway veteran Anthony Rapp, many Harry Potter actors (Evanna Lynch/Luna Lovegood, Devon Murray/Seamus Finnigan, and more), and A Very Potter Musical creators Team StarKid. In addition to special guests, at LeakyCon you’ll jam out to rock concerts with the likes of Harry and the Potters, The Whomping Willows, and Hank Green. If you’re a fan of young adult literature, LeakyCon Lit (headed by New York Times bestselling author Maureen Johnson and Robin Wasserman) is perfect for you!

Disappointment has been on speed dial in Ellen Grayson's life lately. Her dad's dead, her mom is numbing the grief with drugs and alcohol, and her so-called friends are slowly abandoning her. Trusting a popular teacher with her troubles should have been safe, shouldn't have led to an unwelcome seduction attempt, shouldn't have sent her running to the girls' bathroom for the final moments of her Junior year. Lesson learned. Best to keep all the sordid details of her life to herself.

Enter Rex Jacobi, a cocky teen recently transplanted from New York and fellow summer camp employee. Though his quick wit and confidence draws her in, she's not letting him get too close, not til she's sure she can trust him. By the time Rex's charming persistence wears down her resistance, it's too late. He's put Ellen on the perma-pal shelf and shifted his romantic attentions to her arch-rival. Even worse, the teacher who tried to seduce her is still misbehaving with impunity.

With her ability to trust as shaky as a chastity vow on prom night, Ellen must decide if she has enough remaining courage to speak up about her teacher and risk retribution, to tell Rex how she feels and risk heartbreak, or hold all her secrets inside, the only safe place she knows.

#Review of A Bear Called Paddington by Michael Bond #Giveaway @HarperChildrens

Mr. and Mrs. Brown first met Paddington, a most endearing bear from Darkest Peruon a railway platform in London. A sign hanging around his neck said, "Please look after this bear. Thank you" So that is just what they did.
From the very first night when he attempted his first bath and ended up nearly flooding the house, Paddington was seldom far from imminent disaster. Jonathan and Judy were delighted with this havoc and even Mr. and Mrs. Brown had to admit that life seemed to be more filled with adventure when there was a bear in the house.
